The English Department of Ness Wadia College of Commerce offers English as a compulsory subject and also as an Additional English Language option to students of B.Com. in their 1st year of the degree college.
Technology-mediated task-based group activities, classroom presentations, discussions and workshops in addition to teaching by lecture, peer learning; project report writing and periodical assessment are part of the program.
The Department of English is a vibrant department in the college as it continuously organizes various literary and language activities throughout the year. It keeps pace with the important changes that have been taking place in English as a subject and language of communication. While it already engages Spoken English Courses and orientation program for teachers, it has also started short modular courses in Business English and Certificate Courses in English in the newly set up - Center for English and Foreign Languages (CEFL). The CEFL is a recognized training Centre for the Cambridge ESOL Business English Examinations.

The Department of English boasts of having the departmental library with a rich collection of titles related to English literature and language as most of the books were purchased under the Minor Research Projects carried out by the department members.
