Economics is one of the core subjects for the B.Com degree course BBA and BBA(CA) courses and also the M.Com. Course. It is a compulsory subject at all the three years of the under-graduate class covering Micro Economics, Macro Economics, International Economics & Global and Indian Economic Development. At the Masters level, the subjects include Industrial Economics and Industrial Economic Enviorment. Class room teaching is interactive and the students can benefit by active participation in debates, quizzes and discussions on current economic events.
The department makes an effort to develop the knowledge and analytical skills of students. It holds seminars and counducts certificate courses symposiums every year to widen the exposure given to the student and also endeavours to organize events that encourage students participation. We hold an essay competition on current topics relating to development economics and environmental economics in view of its importance in the developing world.Recently the Department has launched a lecture series where reputed speahers deliver lectures on Contemporary Issues in Economics, Banking and finance under the auspices of the department of Business Economic, the college conducts a one year Post Graduate Diploma in International Business of the Savitribai Phule Pune University.

The Department Newsletter-Ecobank is brought out once in a term jointly with the Department of Banking students and . The members of department write articles, current information, book reviews etc. pertaining to Economic and Marketing Economics. The newsletter has been well received and appreciated by students.
